Today this editor toured a portion of Lubbock and surveyed storm damage. A metal building near Erskine&Frankford was heavily damaged. A tree in the parking lot at the post office near 50th&Gary lost a portion of it's trunk branch. Wal-Mart at 4th&Frankford had extensive tree limb damage. A plastic sign at 7-11 at 4th&Frankford was totalled. Lubbock appeared to have more water in several playa lakes, good news for local ducks. That water was full of litter. The storm appeared to create "summer jobs" for local youth. As a whole it's a "mixed bag" of good and bad news. I personally emptied two full rain barrels on my trees and shrubs.

Lubbock gets wrath of Mother Nature
Yesterday a storm quietly blew by West Texas Free Press headquarters dumping enough rain to fill two rain barrels. The electricity was knocked out for a couple of hours. On the way to Lubbock the storm picked up steam and punished Lubbock for having too many unrepentent sinners. Roofs were destroyed, gas pump canopies were wiped out and some hailstone damage occurred.
